Golgotha Chapel in Church of Holy Sepulchre. Ascend the steep stairs to the traditional site of the crucifixion. This area is also the location of the 10.th,11th,12th, 13th, Station of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa. There are two chapels although they appear almost as one. The one un the south is Roman Katolics(Latin), and that to the north Greek Orthodox. The Roman Katolics chapel, the Chapel of the Nailing to the Cross is adorned, ont he ceiling, with a 12th C mosaic depicting the Ascension, although the fery dim light will make it almost impossible to see! This Chapel marks the 10th and 11th Station of the Via Dolorosa. Just to the south and visible through a window is the Chapel of the Agony of Mary or Chapel of Frank. The adjacent Greek Orthodox chapel is the Chapel of the Raising of the Cross, and is the 12.th Station of the Via Dolorosa. On the east side the monks will show you the rock in which the Cross of Jesus placed. Between the two chapels is the 13st Station of the Cross where, after removal from the Cross, Jesus’body was received by Mary. That is the Stabat Mater.
